Do you have a desire to help to create the most innovative, public service
minded IT department in Alaska’s largest city?  Join the Anchorage Public
Library System to lead staff towards a responsive and user centric model to
residents.  The candidate will have an opportunity to help lead various
projects, such as Automated Handling (AMH), which is part of a central
library remodel.  Lead a work team to carry out a developed technology plan.

This position:   Articulates current APL user and staff needs and provide a
strategic vision for APL’s technological future development and technology
deployment, driven by excellent customer service; Serves as ILS coordinator
for APL within consortium partnership; Coordinates technology needs for
staff and public computers with Municipal IT. Defines technological
improvements with realistic expectations;  Coordinates goals and objectives
of three year Technology Plan; Brings transformational change to the
library’s approach to technology. You will be an articulate communicator
and collaborator with staff, IT professionals in other departments, and
vendors.  You will have the ability to see and explain the big picture, as
well as detail minded in order to maintain documentation and reports.

Anchorage is rated as one of the “greenest” cities in the US.  Great parks
and forests, LOTS of winter sports, wildlife out your backdoor, fishing,
boating, kayak opportunities, to say nothing of the moose that wander the
streets.  Anchorage is also very diverse, with over 90 languages spoken in
the schools and a wide range of diverse political opinions.   The outside
is not the only thing going, there is an active arts community and “Makers”
thrive!  Think of the adventure….
