GRANDE OPENING: Wednesday, 5 March 2008
**********************************************
Talis Cybrary Island is a large piece of land (sim) within Second Life that
intends to provide a space for computer, library and information science
communities who are new to Second Life. The Alliance Library System
(www.alliancelibrarysystem.com) supported the acquisition, Talis
(www.talis.com) funded the monthly rental costs, and cAliCo Information
Consulting (www.calicoinfo.net) funded the land purchase, sim construction,
and is investing time in managing the sim development, buildings and its
residents.
One of the goals for Talis Cybrary Island is to create an environment that
is of a more global nature, thus the build of the sim will reflect the
architecture and essence of Venice, Italy. cAliCo has sub-contracted the sim
build to Vintage Dawn Builders (vintagedawn.com), who are finishing up the
details of the sim this week. We already have several residents who will
relocate to their new "homes" this week. An official press release for this
will come from Talis, look for that to follow.
