This position is offered through the SUNY System Sponsored Programs 
Office, an operating location of the Research Foundation of State 
University of New York, a private, nonprofit educational corporation 
supporting research, education and public service at the State 
university of New York.

NYSHEI Executive Director

The New York State Higher Education Initiative (NYSHEI), a 
collaborative member-governed organization of public and private 
academic libraries and institutions in New York State

seeks an Executive Director to be responsible for development and 
implementation of policies, procedures and programs to carry out the 
directions set by the NYSHEI Board of Directors. Advocacy and member 
relations are major responsibilities of the Executive Director.   In 
performing these duties, the Director works closely with the Board; 
advocates for legislative support; communicates regularly with the 
membership, facilitates team building and collaboration, prepares 
progress reports and working papers, oversees budget preparation and 
accounting, and promotes the organization in higher education arenas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:   Master's degree; five years of professional experience in 
an academic library or higher education agency; working knowledge of 
issues and trends affecting academic libraries and higher education; 
excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated 
ability to write analytical policy documents and briefings and 
demonstrated public speaking ability; effective team building and 
community building skills; strong commitment to fostering internal 
and external collaboration . Preferred: experience with a membership 
organization governed by a board; evidence of successful advocacy 
efforts; working knowledge of New York State legislative environment.
Minimum salary $80,000.
