Minuteman Library Network - User Services Librarian

The Minuteman Library Network (MLN) a multi-type, automated library
consortium serving 35 public and 6 academic libraries west of Boston,
Massachusetts, seeks a librarian to serve as Webmaster and to participate in
the User Services team. The successful candidate should be a creative,
energetic individual, committed to bringing the benefits of automated
library services to a broad audience.

The Minuteman Library Network is an innovative, member-driven, non-profit
organization founded in 1983 to enhance resource sharing and provide
cost-effective automated library services.  Major services provided by MLN
Central Site staff include support of a shared Innovative Interfaces
integrated library system, access to online databases, cooperative
cataloging, Internet access, and automation training and support programs.

Major Duties:  Maintains and expands Minuteman's Web pages - both for the
public and for library staff. Develops Minuteman's Web interface to the
online catalog.  Develops documentation and training to improve library
staff knowledge of resources available through Minuteman. Serves as liaison
and trainer for library staff in the areas of: use of Minuteman's online
catalog, use of the automated Circulation and Holds functions, searching
skills, generating reports from the automated system. Participates in User
Services team approach to supporting automation competency among library
staff. Trouble-shoots problems with the automated system as necessary.

Qualifications: Experience in HTML and web design, including Cascading Style
Sheets, as well as graphics creation and editing. PC literacy and
familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Experience doing training
and documentation. Knowledge of Innovative Interfaces automated system
desirable. Experience using a variety of electronic reference resources.
Requires excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to work
independently and flexibly in a progressive team environment. M.L.S.
preferred.

Salary:  Full-time (37.5 hours per week) annual salary commensurate with
experience and qualifications, TIAA-CREF retirement, health insurance,
disability plan, 3 weeks vacation, and 11 paid holidays.
