JOB TITLE: KCResearch Librarian
CLASSIFICATION: Librarian/Professional
REPORTS TO: Head of Support Services - Project Director         

JOB SUMMARY

Working under the guidance of the Project Director, Librarian will
identify and acquire content for the KCResearch Repository using
criteria set forth by the Project Advisory Group as part of the
selection process.  He or she will serve as liaison with contributing
partners, conduct outreach and promotional activities, and provide
public services expertise for repository development. This is a
grant-funded two year position.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

1. Identifies potential sources for research material.
2. Works with identified organizations to solicit and collect research.
3. Works collaboratively with advisory board to develop and administer
standards.
4. Works collaboratively with information technology professionals to
design database and public interface 5. Performs outreach activities to
research community, including presentations and development of
informational materials in all forms.
6. Oversees development of subject thesaurus.
7. Attends repository and project group meetings.
8. Identifies and evaluates appropriate content on the Web.
9. Implements and updates repository collection development policies as
needed.
10. Trains repository users.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Strong inter-personal skills and demonstrated ability to interact
successfully with researchers and the public.
2. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of professional
library work, including basic reference and cataloging principles.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Knowledge of the world of scholarly communication.
5. Flexibility to work variable hours.
6. Strong computer skills, including experience with web applications
and metadata.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

ALA-accredited MLS. Prefer experience with research community and/or
editorial experience. Knowledge of bi-state Kansas City area highly
desirable.
