Library Websites that use Icons

Earlier this year we decided we wanted some icons or graphics that we could
use as a library logo and in library promotions, etc. We contacted some
professors in the Art Department, and they agreed to help us out. They
assigned the project to their students, who submitted scores of designs for
us to choose from. One of them is a flash graphic we now have on our home
page (http://www.lib.panam.edu/ ; our school mascot is a bronc, and our
colors are green and orange.) We picked a "normal" icon to use for other
items on our web site, but it's not displayed yet. We chose other graphics
for bookplates, banners, and other promotional items.

All in all, it was a very worthwhile activity. We got to choose from many
designs of different types and sizes, that were created by aspiring
professionals (I sure don't have that kind of talent), and we actually got
to put into practice that magic word--collaboration!
