Many people have asked me about the responses I am getting to my query on
wireless networks in libraries. Links to libraries and related documents
can be found at:
http://people.morrisville.edu/~drewwe/wireless/wirelesslibraries.htm
I have received 22 responses from the following states:
Arkansas,California,Georgia,Illinois,Minnesota,Mississippi,New York
State,Ohio,Pennsylvania,Tennessee,Texas,Washington,Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
I have heard from two other countries; Singapore and Canada with one each.
The majority of college/university libraries have wireless networks as a
result of a campus wide effort. Several served as pilot sites. Several
also loan laptops with wireless cards. I got a large number of messages
saying that they didn't have wireless yet but would in the next 6 months to
a year.
I also did a search on Google and found a significant number of libraries
with wireless networks for their patrons (over 30) that I have not yet heard
from. I would like to make this list as complete as possible. I think it
can assist others in their planning and help me get some ideas on promoting
our wireless network access here at Morrisville College.
