ELECTRONIC SERVICES LIBRARIAN
James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA

This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, 
knowledgeable reference librarian to take on a leadership role in 
developing electronic services.

RESPONSIBILITIES. Provides leadership in planning, implementing, and 
evaluating electronic reference services. Coordinates the evaluation 
and selection of electronic reference sources. Oversees the 
electronic reference area and coordinates training on electronic 
resources. Works closely with the library systems department. 
Collaborates with the library web development team on providing 
integrated and intuitive access to information through the library 
web. Participates in reference desk service and in the activities of 
the reference department. Serves as liaison librarian to the speech 
communication and media arts departments including outreach to 
faculty and students, library instruction, collection development, 
and reference consultation. Position reports to the Director of 
Public Services.  Minimum salary $37,000.

QUALIFICATIONS: Accredited MLS; reference and instructional 
experience; thorough knowledge of trends in electronic reference 
resources and relevant technology; knowledge of database 
functionality and interfaces;  knowledge of collection development;  
excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and 
time-management skills; excellent problem-solving and analytical 
skills; ability to apply technology to a diverse range of library 
applications; strong public service orientation; ability to work 
creatively and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment; 
and knowledge of markup languages, web design, and Internet search 
skills.
