Announcing "lib-web-cats" a resource of library Web pages, online
catalogs, and automation systems. This is a searchable database,
with multiple search types and indexes. It includes both a simple
search page and a more advanced search query.

The URL is:

http://staffweb.library.vanderbilt.edu/Breeding/libwebcats.html

lib-web-cats aims to help locate libraries on the Internet and to
connect to their online catalogs. When using the advanced search,
users can display a library's full profile, which includes its
address, branches, and other details, as available.

Not all records are complete, but many are added or updated each day.
Currently more than 4,200 libraries are represented.

A form is available for submitting new libraries to the lib-web-cats
database.

Permission is granted for any library to provide a link to this
resource from its Web site. Please notify Marshall Breeding if you
choose to provide such a link.

lib-web-cats is also a research tool for library automation. When
available, records specify what library automation system the
library currently uses, as well as previous systems. This tool can
be used to track trends in system migrations and what types of
systems are being selected by each type of library.

This site is hosted on the Heard Library Web server at Vanderbilt
University and the content is maintained by Marshall Breeding.

I invite any comments or suggestions for improvement.
