Problem is, if you've hosed your .EXE association, you CAN'T RUN ANY .EXE
file!
While Bob Rasmussen's solution is quite viable, here's another alternative:
Open a DOS emulator window (by running COMMAND.COM, which should work
despite your association problem, since it's a COM file, not an EXE).
Copy REGEDIT.EXE (or WINFILE.EXE, if you prefer) to REGEDIT.COM (or
WINFILE.COM, which is notably included in the default Windows NT 4.0
Workstation installation).
>From the command prompt, run REGEDIT.COM or WINFILE.COM (you may need to
explicitly specify the .COM part). A new window will open with the tool
you need.
Of course, if you manage to hose up your .COM association too, this won't
work either... :P
