Responding to Julie's comment that Photoshop isn't very web-centric. The book
Photoshop for the Web by Mikkel Aaland from O'Reilly is very good on explaining
how to configure and use Photoshop for the web, such as setting up websafe
palettes as your default. Adobe also has two specialized web programs that are
very good--ImageReady and ImageStyler. The former makes it easy to optimize
pictures from various sources for the web, and the latter is great for building
custom banners and buttons, etc.
