Counting Webspirs accesses

The following question is directed to those of you who are using
Webspirs to provide access to your databases.

Do any of you know how to get an accurate count of the number of
times a particular database is used? We would like to know this,
as it would help in deciding (in these low-budget times) when we
might consider dropping one index in favour of another. The
access_log entries for the server only show the first time a database
is selected from our own Periodical Indexes page; once you get into
Webspirs, the resulting URLs do not reflect the database being used,
even if you select a different one(s) from the Database Selection
screen.

Any solutions out there?
