ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN,
LIBRARY SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT

Oklahoma State University is a land grant university in Stillwater,
Oklahoma, with an enrollment of 26,000 students on four campuses
offering 44 doctoral degree programs. The Library, which contains more
than 2.6 million volumes and documents, is a member of the Association
of Research Libraries and the AMIGOS Bibliographic Council. It is
highly automated with an online catalog (NOTIS); online access to ISI's
Current Contents and several FirstSearch databases; online access to
UMI's Proquest Direct (Periodical Abstracts Research II, ABI/Inform,
full-text New York Times, Newspaper Abstracts, and Digital
Dissertations Abstracts); Internet access to Compendex Web and EI
Village, J-Stor, Project Muse, selected FirstSearch databases and the
Encyclopedia Americana; access to a number of locally networked cd-rom
databases and other remote databases. Thirty public Internet
workstations are available.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Library Systems
Department Head, administer the Library Management System (LMS),
currently NOTIS. Maintain all production NOTIS modules including OPAC,
Circulation, Cataloging [including GTO], Acquisitions, Serials
Check-In [LSER], MDAS, PACLink, and DocLink. The Library is planning
to move to a new LMS in the near future and this position will have
significant responsibilities with the implementation of the new
system. Other areas of responsibility may include
support/troubleshooting desktop systems and software, and technology
development, management, and planning.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-MLS. Desired: Course work in library
automation desired. Support experience with integrated library
management systems and/or desktop workstations preferred.
SALARY: $30,000 for 11 months. Salary and academic rank dependent upon
qualifications and prior experience.
BENEFITS: Social security; free health, accident and life insurance;
retirement benefits available under state system and TIAA/CREF (some
restrictions); 11 holidays; sick leave. Opportunity to work towards
advanced degree.
