rlogin

Kenneth Young asks about rlogin URLs. Although the rlogin URL scheme
is in fact documented in the URL RFC, it isn't widely implemented. As
a result, it's unlikely that you'll be able to access a service that
requires rlogin rather than telnet from most web browsers.

I believe Netscape treats telnet and rlogin URLs as equivalent, calling
the same helper application in both cases. Of course, most Mac and PC
telnet clients do not implement the rlogin protocol.

One workaround for the problem is to set up a captive account on some
Unix system that accepts telnet connections, perhaps at a nonstandard
port, and performs the rlogin from there.
