Purdue's InfoMasters group will host a presentation entitled "Copyright
Law and Liability Issues in Electronic Publishing" on Wednesday, September
20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall.
The presentation is open to the entire Purdue campus community and the
general public as well.
David Loundy, a Chicago attorney and author and a Purdue graduate, will be
our speaker. Topics and issues that he will discuss include the
following:
- Copyright Law
- Digital technology
- Copyright law and network issues: the user, the content provider, the
system operator
- Defamation
- Libel versus slander
- Recent cases: personal liability, carrier liability
- Obscenity and indecency: child pornography, obscenity, indecency
