The National Library of Canada and the Canadian Initiative on Digital   
Libraries(CIDL) host the highly acclaimed OCLC Institute workshop, "Using   
Metadata for Knowledge Management".

This 2.5 day session offers "an intensive theoretical and practical   
exploration of metadata and its applications in knowledge management   
systems."

After participating in this seminar you will be able to:

Understand the concept of Knowledge Management and the key opportunities   
for libraries
Understand the foundations of resource description and its application to   
the Internet
Understand emerging Web standards such as XML, RDF, and the Dublin Core   
and their application in resource description systems
Evaluate your information management needs and determine the   
appropriateness of metadata for a variety of applications
Use the Dublin Core metadata in a real-world application

La Bibliotheque nationale du Canada et l Initiative canadienne sur les   
bibliotheques numeriques (ICBN) vous invitent a assister a un atelier   
tres en demande de l Institut d OCLC, intitule < Using Metadata for   
Knowledge Management > [Utilisation de metadonnees pour la gestion des   
connaissances].

Cette session de deux jours et demis propose une exploration theorique et   
pratique intensive de metadonnees et de ses applications dans les   
systemes de gestion des connaissances.

a l Internet

 - comprendre les normes du Web en emergence telles le langage XML, le   
systeme RDF, et le Dublin Core et de leurs applications dans les systemes   
de definition des ressources

 - evaluer vos besoins en gestion de l information et determiner la   
pertinence de la metadonnee pour une variete d applications

 - utiliser la metadonnee du Dublin Core dans une application reelle
