WordPress attacks?

I have noticed a big upswing in the last few hours of attempted logins on the WordPress site I manage for my SLA division.  All use "admin" username.  I mentioned it on the Facebook WordPress And Librarians Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/wordpress.librarians/) and J.D. Thomas noticed it as well.  Anyone hear of this going on generally?
