The folks at University of Illinois-Chicago would like to sponsor a one-day Code4Lib event, and in order to determine the best date, they are asking folks to complete the following Doodle Poll:

As you may or may not know, Code4Lib is a community approximately 3,500 people strong. [1] Most of the people are from the United States, but all of them are interested in the use of computers in libraries. The community is approximately twelve years old boasting an annual meeting, a robust mailing list, a refereed open access journal, and many of the other accouterments surrounding digital groups.
Code4Lib has spawned a number of regional groups. There is Code4Lib Midwest (where ever that is), Code4Lib Northwest (Seattle, etc.), Code4Lib New York City, Code4Lib BC, etc.* These regional groups get together on a periodic basis to keep in touch with each other and to offer a lesser expensive venue than the annual meeting.
A Code4Lib Chicago meeting is in the process of being planned. Probably hosted by the good folks at the University of Illinois-Chicago, the event will include lighting talks, maybe a presentation or two, maybe some hack sessions, but most importantly, opportunities to discuss the use of computers in libraries. Everybody is welcome. It is not necessary about PHP, XML, nor Linux. It is about libraries and librarianship. For example, want to learn how various Javascript libraries could enhance your library’s Web presence? Come to Chicago.
If you think you may want to attend a one-day event like this in Chicago, then please complete the Doodle Poll so things can be planned accordingly. Consider also joining the ChiCode4Lib mailing list. [2]

* There are also Cod4Lib meetings where fish is the main attraction, but that is another story.
