Can biometrics replace library cards?

One should also keep in mind that fingerprints are relatively easy to copy
well enough to fool a scanner (hand prints are better suited).  There may
also be enough people for whom a given biometric is unsuitable (I
frequently lose my fingerprints due to eczema)  that cards will would still
have to be issued as an alternative.  There are likely related problems
with facial, voice, and retinal scanning.
