library website content management system layer and SharePoint

Drupal has several options for connecting to SharePoint.
There is a SharePoint module that provides a variety of services to connect to SharePoint 2010 and later, although I don't know of anyone using it with SharePoint 2013. It seems pretty dead.
There is also a CMIS API <https://www.drupal.org/project/cmis> which was build for Drupal/Alfresco integration. Alfresco is an open-source DMS that is more-or-less compatible with SharePoint. SharePoint uses CMIS, but they do it the Microsoft way, so it may or may not work for you.
We have had the best results when we use feeds to move information in and out of Drupal. This is largely what the SharePoint module does, but it makes fewer (as in no) assumptions.
The bottom line is that your success in integrating Drupal, or any CMS, with SharePoint will depend on your objectives and your resources. For example, if you have SharePoint devs, you will be looking at a different picture that if you need to rely on what comes from SharePoint OOTB, because you will be able to create bespoke endpoints and adjust what SharePoint sends.
Thanks,
Cary

I really know very little about SharePoint and what can be done; he asked me yesterday to begin researching this. At the same time, we are ready to move forward with creating a new, modern, dynamic website. I have been using DreamWeaver to create and maintain our library website for the past seven years. So we are wondering if there is any CMS out there that is mainly used for the library website, but in some way connects or communicates with SharePoint when it is used as a campus portal.
