SLAC Research Library Addis Fund Fellow Opportunity

The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory invites applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated librarians for the second competition of the Addis Fellowship Program.  The program will place 1 recent Ph.D. or MLIS from an ALA accredited program into a temporary position at the SLAC Research Library. This assignment will provide an opportunity for a new or early career librarian to gain exposure to a special library environment and to exercise leadership in the development and implementation of policies and practices relating some aspect of the SLAC Research Library’s management and services.

Reporting to the Manager, Archives and Research Library, this year’s incumbent will serve as a Technical Services Librarian working on a project to refine and begin implementing a process to incorporate the SLAC Research Library’s analog collection of scientific and technical grey literature into appropriate existing digital indexes and repositories (inSPIRE, SDR, OSTI, Google Scholar, etc.)

Deliverables for this year’s assignment will be:
A robust workflow for 
?	Evaluating the digital availability of the SLAC Research Library’s analog grey literature. 
?	Scanning those papers not currently available electronically 
?	Creating accurate metadata for scanned papers 
?	Uploading the digital content into the appropriate repository
?	Detailed documentation of the developed workflow
?	Successful implementation of the workflow and documentation on a substantial portion of the grey literature holdings.
Note: This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible position.  Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age, currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated, and have US work authorization.
 
Qualifications: 
Required: 
?	Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution of higher education by the start of employment. 
?	At least 2 years' experience working with standard web technologies that include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML to develop and integrate web applications.
?	Formal coursework in, or experience with, user information‐seeking behaviors in an academic environment.
?	Knowledge of content, format and search strategies of bibliographic databases and electronic information resources; XML, HTML, Drupal, relational database structures, data taxonomies, digital repositories, emerging web standards and technologies including Open URL and link resolution software. 
?	Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task and complete assignments. 
?	Demonstrated commitment to user‐centered library service
?	Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment.
Desired: 
?	BA/BS in a scientific discipline or computer science
?	Ph.D. in Library Science conferred between January 2010 and the application deadline
