It's not free, but the monthly subscription is very reasonable for http://www.lynda.com which our org has been using for bringing us up to speed on a variety of web related topics.

Hello all.

We are planning to develop some Mobile apps. We know the process it is not easy and the learning curve could be hard.

Actually we are exploring for now CORONA and Platinum APPcelerator since both let you create for Android and IOs AND they are not too expensive on the commercial version.

We also are considering some other commercial tools , even when more expensive, if they give us the tools we need to develop in an "easier" way reducing the learning curve.

As part of the process we know we have to master Javascript and HTML5 for those frameworks. Yes, we know we could go native but the learning curve harder that these ones.

On this. Any suggestions on books, online courses (free if possible) to have the bases on Javacript and HTML5 ?

If you are in the same process or have done it already. Can you share your experience on what tools do/did you use and why?

Thanks in advance

Jorge Biquez

NISO Altmetrics Project > First In-person / [Streamed] Meeting > October 9, 2013 > San Francisco, CA

As previously announced, NISO is undertaking—with a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation—a two-phase initiative to explore, identify, and advance standards and/or best practices related to a new suite of assessment metrics for the scholarly community. The first phase of the project is intended to expose areas for potential standardization and collectively prioritize those potential projects.

The first in-person meeting in support of this work will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in San Francisco. The objectives of this one-day meeting will include a short opening keynote on topic of assessment, lightning talks on related projects, brainstorming for identification of topics for discussion, and prioritizing proposed work items.

The meeting is free for all attendees. [snip]. In-person registration for this event closed on Friday, October 4 at 5:00 p.m. (ET). Virtual attendance registration closes on Tuesday, October 8 at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
