*GENERAL LIBRARIAN*

(Institutional Repository Project Librarian)

LSU Libraries

Louisiana State University



This is a temporary position for a General Librarian that will end June 30,
2014.  Reporting to the Director of the Institutional Repository, the IR
Project Librarian will assist in developing and implementing LSU's
Institutional Repository (IR) with special focus on metadata strategies.
The incumbent will also work closely with the Head of Cataloging and other
library staff to establish and maintain local policies and procedures for
bibliographic and metadata services, projects, and other activities that
affect the IR.



*Required Qualifications:  *ALA-accredited master's degree; knowledge of
relevant metadata and cataloging standards, such as RDA, AACR2, Dublin
Core, LCSH, and LC Classification; knowledge of tools for managing digital
assets or repository software such as ContentDM, BePress, DSpace, or
similar digital management and repository systems; knowledge of current and
emerging tools for resource discovery and access. *Preferred
Qualifications:* Experience developing and/or managing an institutional
repository; experience with tools for managing digital assets or repository
software such as ContentDM, BePress, DSpace, or similar digital management
and repository systems; work experience in a library setting with relevant
metadata and cataloging standards, such as RDA, AACR2, Dublin Core, LCSH,
and LC Classification; experience with XML, javascript, css, php, MySQL and
other programming languages; ability to work independently and
collaboratively in a collegial environment.
