Hello,
I have experience with using both, and it depends on what your needs are.
With Vimeo they do not support Closed Captioning (
http://vimeo.com/help/faq/video#closed_captioning) which is a deal breaker
for our needs.
We found that we could make videos non-public and host the embed code to a
page on our Proxy Server, use encryption to encrypt the page source, and
that would suffice for security in either solution.
I prefer Kaltura, but Vimeo seems easier to implement, and lacks some
features.
If you want to hear more about our experiences please write because there
is a lot more that we have experimented with regarding a streaming video
solution and I can share more info based on your specific questions.
Best,
Amy
