Instruction Design Resident at Kansas State University Libraries
Kansas State University Libraries in Manhattan, KS, announces our 2012
two-year residency. This isn't your typical residency. We are looking for
someone with a high level of comfort in the online environment (whether it
be programming, web design, social networks, social tools, course
management systems, content management systems, or other web-related
skills) and a strong interest in learning more as he/she works in tandem
with experienced librarians. Residents will be evaluated on criteria
similar to that of other library faculty, including an annual portfolio.
This is a two year residency reporting to the Head, Undergraduate and
Community Services.
*Required Qualifications*:
- Accredited graduate degree earned by September 2012 in at least one of
the following fields: MLS, M.S. Educational Technology, M.S. Instructional
Design and Technology
- No more than 2 (two) years post-MLS/M.S. Ed Tech professional
experience
- Demonstrated skill with online environments such
as:programming/scripting (e.g. PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, etc.), lesson
building software (e.g. SoftChalk, Adobe Captivate, Articulate, etc.),
content management systems (e.g. Drupal, WordPress, LibGuides, etc.),
learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard, Angel, Axio, etc.)
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
- Ability and willingness to work with diverse groups both on the staff
and within the patron community
- Demonstrated ability to take the lead on and responsibility for small
projects
- Demonstrated commitment to scholarship/professional development;
potential to meet requirements expected of academic library faculty
*Compensation/Benefits
*Salary is similar to that of entry-level professionals. We offer a
comprehensive benefits package including 22 days of vacation per year and
support for professional development activities.
