The ideal candidate is innovative, team-oriented, entrepreneurial, willing to take chances, can laugh at their own mistakes, and wants to engage with the campus community. Reporting to the Head of Collection Development and Technical Services, the Digital Collections Librarian works collaboratively in and outside the Library to: manage unique collections; preserve digital and archival resources; assess and implement archival and digital library initiatives; develop new digital library offerings; advance infrastructure supporting digital and archival library collections; and identify and develop technologies for these purposes. The Digital Collections Librarian possesses a thorough understanding of the digital resource life cycle and is committed to eliminating inefficiencies, encouraging participation by all university users at all levels, and willing to explore traditional and non-traditional methodologies and standards that support acquisitions, universal use and access. This position includes Reference Desk responsibilities and some evening and weekend hours.

Placing students at the center of the educational experience, CSU Channel Islands (CI) provides undergraduate and graduate education that facilitates learning within and across disciplines through integrative approaches, emphasizes experiential and service learning, and graduates students with multicultural and international perspectives. The University is a vibrant part of the extended community and is committed to developing programs that address the academic, economic and social needs of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties and the State of California. CI has twice been named one of the best universities in the nation to work for by The Chronicle of Higher Education, and named to the Chronicle's 2011 Honor Roll, where only 42 institutions nationwide were recognized in at least five categories

This position is contingent upon enrollment growth and availability of funds. Appointments are for fall 2012 in the disciplines listed below. Application review begins on October 24, 2011.
