Online Storage

Kate, I don't currently, but I was working at an academic library a couple
of years ago when I saw a student lose about 5 hours of work when the
computers shutdown early. (I guess the library's clocks ran slower than the
server's system clock.) They were set up to wipe any user documents on
shutdown, and there was no recovery possible.

If I were working in a public or academic library today, I would promote
online office apps and storage--Google Docs and Zoho in particular.
Microsoft also offers an online office suite, but I haven't used it much.
Adobe has a beautiful word processor called Buzzword, and they're adding
spreadsheets and presentations, though they haven't been promoting it much
yet.
