>From the other responses to this message, I'm seeing that the pertinent issues might be different depending on what type of library is offering the app. We are a mid-size public library and are adding/using several mobile apps that our vendors make available to our patrons as part of our contracts with them. Our mobile version of the website has been live for about 1 month; and patrons are only just now beginning to use it regularly. We will be adding seamless access to several more DB vendors' apps from this website very soon.

We haven't analyzed official statistics yet; but patrons that have spoken to me are using it to check availability of titles, place holds, and find locations of branches, in that order. Those using devices with larger screens and more featured browsers are getting the most out of it.

Greetings to all,

I was curious if anyone has had experience with their library providing mobile apps, particularly web apps, for library patrons and would like to share their experiences? What mobile apps does your library provide and is there any response from the patrons (i.e. do they use the services)? Is there any real demand for such services, and is it worthwhile do you think to pursue providing such services? Please feel free to e-mail me instead of posting to the list. Thanks in advance!
