Responsibilities of the Position:
* Design, create, develop and maintain functionality of OPAC using tools provided by ILS and other web development software; coordinate implementation as assigned.
* Technical resource for other departments on interdepartmental projects where ILS is involved.
* Install, configure, upgrade, perform preventative maintenance, monitor and provide support for assigned systems.
* Provide support for PC hardware and software, peripherals and printing devices and software.
* Develop and maintain in-house applications including database design and administration.
* Analyze information technology needs, identify priorities and develop new and improved services, policies and procedures.
* Oversee implementation of systems and technology projects to support and meet library objectives.
* Vendor administration including solicitation of bids, purchasing, and contract maintenance.
* Provide training to staff as needed.
* Respond to staff and patron questions and issues.
* Provide reports as requested.
* Assume other tasks as assigned.
Qualities of the Ideal Candidate:
* Associate's degree in computer-related area; or MLS from an ALA accredited institution with a minimum of 3 years of experience administering Millennium software.
* Minimum 3 years of experience supporting an Integrated Library System (ILS) OR websites.
* Basic knowledge of web design and scripting languages (e.g. HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, XML, JavaScript) preferred.
* Successful management of web and/or ILS projects.
* Experience with desktop publishing, web, and MS Office software.
* Project management and planning experience.
* Self- motivated, organized, efficient, and productive with excellent time management skills.
* Multi-tasking - handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
* Collaborative, hands-on style with exceptional follow through.
* Research and apply new technology.
* Analytical problem-solving skills.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and written/verbal skills, including the ability to explain and train" non-technical" individuals in the effective use of all relevant systems.
Reporting, Pay Range, Benefits:
This position reports to the Systems Manager. The pay range for this position is $17.97 to $23.73 per hour plus a 24% net pay increase through an employer-paid contribution to the Public Employees Retirement System. An excellent benefit package is also provided.
