Head, Library Systems and Technology

Assumption College seeks a dynamic and innovative librarian to provide leadership and management for library systems and technology. S/he will work with library staff to strategically assess, select and implement established or emerging technologies that enhance the Library's ability to support teaching and research at the College. The incumbent is responsible for managing the Library's Voyager Integrated Library System (ILS), Windows and UNIX servers, and library applications such as ILLiad, Ariel, Serials Solutions products, Ariel, Deep Freeze and GoPrint. S/he will oversee development and maintenance of the Library website, and manage the hardware, software, and printing for networked public access and staff PCs in the Library. The incumbent will serve as the liaison between the IT department and the library and provide technical training and support to library staff. Additional responsibilities include serving as a member of the Library Director's Administrative Team and liaison work with an academic department.

Candidates must hold an MLS from an ALA-accredited library school and have at least three years of experience working with an ILS, preferably Voyager. Must have strong oral, written, and presentation skills, and demonstrated commitment to excellent public service. Required skills include HTML, CSS, Microsoft Office Suite, Dreamweaver, knowledge of relational database concepts, basic UNIX skills, ability to write SQL queries, PC troubleshooting and maintenance (7/XP), basic networking skills, Windows Server 2003 or 2008 administration. Experience with ILLiad, Deep Freeze, Ariel, EZProxy, GoPrint, Voyager ILS, Oracle, and SQL Server 2005 is desirable. The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to collaborate with other technology staff and with library staff to evaluate and implement new technologies. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
