You might want to look into Kaltura, an open source video streaming
platform.

Among others, California State University and Cornell have ongoing
implementations.

On the more commercial spectrum, Adobe Flash Media Streaming server is also
a viable candidate:

Out of interest, what kind of content management systems or other
applications are you looking to integrate with your streaming server?

and would like input from other libraries that are streaming now.  We plan
to use Quicktime, but wonder what other platforms libraries are using to
