I believe that NCSU's CatalogWS Web API to their Endeca-based search may
also offer JSON as an output format. Here's the general documentation
for the API (which doesn't mention JSON):
http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/catalog/ws/documentation/search.html
...but here's a SlideShare presentation by Emily Lynema from code4lib
2007 which mentions on slide 10 that "json" could be used as an option
for the "output" parameter:

Very interesting idea you've got there, Aaron... I'd love to hear more
as it develops.

Subject: [Web4lib] OPAC outputs in JSON - adding opac results to google
Hi all
Recently I came across a OPAC that outputs search results in JSON,
something like
http://academic.demo.kohalibrary.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=obama
&format=rss2but
for Json instead of RSS.
Unfortunately I lost the url, does anyone know which OPAC/discovery
platform
does this?
Ultimately my idea is to adapt a greasemonkey script like
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/43451 which shows Twitter results
(JSON
ouput) automatically on top of google searches, but to put library
catalogue
results instead of Twitter results.
Has this being done before? I wonder if this can also be done with RSS
output as well..
Thanks
Aaron
