And what input are you going to send to these XML services, when 
asking for an author biography?  The author name?  Something else?

If you send "Mark Twain" I can build you a system that returns (in 
XML) the URL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Twain -- but it 
isn't going to be cheap.
