[Web4lib] RE: SMS (text messaging) in libraries or education?

We use a similar scheme to the one Robert describes to send text
messages for "soon due" notices, event reminders and new title author
alerts. We ask for the patron's cell phone number and service provider.
The message is sent via email to the email-to-SMS gateway each provider
offers. You can see an example here:
