David,
I selected Cascade for as the CMS for Plymouth a couple years ago
(though I use Scriblio to manage the library site). The system does a
lot of things "right," including opening the right doors to remixing.
At the time we selected it, most of the university's web pages were
static HTML pages with a few PHP goodies here and there. We're still
moving those pages, but the important stuff is migrated and it's
worked well. The company does a good job of solving the few bugs we've
found and delivers meaningful updates with useful new features.
I can't guarantee that we'll still be using it in a few years, but it
offers enough extensibility and access so that we should be able to
migrate away easily if we want to. Then again, that extensibility and
access may offer what we need to keep it going.
