Position: Director of Library Services
The Director of Library Services will perform leadership responsibilities
for the Research Department and libraries of our national law firm by
managing services, programs, personnel and collections with particular
emphasis on library information resources in support of teaching, research
and service. The individual must bring a business focus to our library
services and research department with respect to client service, revenue
generation and cost recovery. The individual will demonstrate proven
management skills and provide vision and direction that meet the expanding
needs of our attorneys, practice areas, professional development and
marketing. This position is responsible for integrating advanced and
innovative technology, new media and programs with traditional library
collections to support a wide variety of information users. This position
manages a team of 56, including research librarians, technical services
staff, technology specialists, and a financial operations team. Candidate
must know when to work independently, when to collaborate and understand how
to navigate within a firm culture with entrepreneurial values for maximum
effectiveness. 

Requirements: Masters in Library Science or other advanced degree with 10 or
more years experience, 3 of which were performing research in a legal
environment. Requires prior professional services experience where cost
recovery or revenue generation were factors; in-depth knowledge and
experience of print and online legal research materials; ability to organize
and prioritize numerous tasks under time constraints; and strong
communication and interpersonal skills in order to promote effective
relationships with attorneys, vendors and research team in person and via
telephone. Must be resourceful, flexible and welcoming of new challenges;
should have an overall awareness of issues affecting the information
industry and must be interested in networking with fellow professionals and
building strong relationships. Successful candidates must be able to handle
themselves calmly and professionally.

Position can be based in New York City, Albany, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago,
Dallas, Houston, Delaware, Denver, Florida,  Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange
County, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Palo Alto, California,
Sacramento, Washington D.C.

Manager Library Systems- International Law Firm
Description:
Key responsibilities may include:
€  Creation of project plans outlining schedules, parameters, costs,
equipment and timelines to rollout new systems or system enhancements;
ensures systems are fully integrated and functional for cataloging,
circulation, serials, acquisitions, and budgeting
€  Evaluates software needs for library operations; manages and coordinates
upgrades to the library systems; coordinates activities with Information
Technology team or outside vendors as needed
€  Works with Director to establish protocols to assure proper coding and
budgeting in all offices and departments; uses the integrated library
systems to generate an accurate budget report for all offices and
departments 
€  Assists Director in developing a plan for centralizing all US technical
functions where practical; recommends optimal workflow for maximum
efficiency in staff operations; coordinates system and workflow changes with
Head Librarians, IT, and Accounting
€  Establishes benchmarks for technical services workflows, provides
training and measures performance

Position can be based in New York City, Baltimore, Chicago, Washington DC,
downtown San Diego, or Palo Alto, California.
