Here's my $0.02:

Learn as much as you can about the "techy" areas, but recognize that 
specific software/skills/knowledge may not be directly applicable to a 
particular library position.

The important part is to have a foundation of skills that let you a) 
learn new, similar skills quickly, and b) develop an "I can 
learn/do/apply that" approach to whatever you encounter that might be 
beneficial.  I find that the process of learning about 
programs/technology has a cumulative benefit far greater than knowing a 
particular program/technology.
