[Web4lib] Lightbox?

Are any libraries using, or planning to use, the "lightbox" technique?
(See links below for more info.)

I've run across a few websites that use this effect, most notably
Netflix, which, once you add an item to your queue, creates a layer
above the page with additional suggestions. The underlying page remains,
and is visible through a partially transparent gray background. I've
also seen lightbox used to create easy-to-use photo slideshows (without
Flash).

I'm just wondering whether anyone has found some compellingly useful
applications of this technique.
