*NISO To Hold One-Day Forum on Institutional Repositories
PALINET Cosponsoring Event at National Agricultural Library//*

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) and PALINET will 
host a forum on "Getting the Most Out of Your Institutional Repository: 
Gathering Content and Building Use," to be held December 3 at the 
National Agricultural Library, Beltsville, MD. This one-day event asks 
library and information service providers to think about how to take 
advantage of an organization’s repository once it is implemented by 
looking at:

    * Populating the repository
    * Metadata and formatting challenges
    * Rights management issues
    * The OAI Object Reuse and Exchange Project
    * Faculty use and attitudes
    * Electronic theses and dissertations
    * And additional related topics

Confirmed speakers include: Greg Zick (OCLC), Trisha L. Davis (The Ohio 
State University Libraries), Herbert Van de Sompel (Los Alamos National 
Laboratory Research Library), Dorothea Salo, (University of Wisconsin at 
Madison), Roger C. Shonfeld (Ithaka), and Terry M. Owen (University of 
Maryland Digital Repository).

The early bird discount closes November 16. NISO and PALINET members are
