[Web4lib] Google's new "Universal" (Federated) search default

I've often wondered how the search engines distinguish between a blog and any other web site, anyway. After all, some of the quality information I'm looking for winds up being in blogs. And aren't more and more formal institutional web sites built with blogging software?

But assuming the distinction is helpful, if the results were tabbed (news, images, video, blogs, scholar, maps) similar to those links Google now has along the tippy-top left, that might help end users navigate the results of a universal search.
