The USC Libraries – Information Development & Management is seeking a 
full-time Web Applications Developer to join its team.

The Web Applications Developer is responsible for designing, developing 
and managing various database-driven Web projects that serve the USC 
Libraries.

Responsibilities:

    * Integrates database and application software appropriate for the
      project.
    * Consults with faculty and staff to design, develop and implement
      interactive information delivery systems. Reviews and recommends
      hardware and software needed for web site development.
    * Coordinates the content and organization of static and dynamic
      data with faculty, staff and other units, but is typically not
      responsible for content development.
    * Investigates and analyzes various specialized computing options
      and solutions. Troubleshoots system errors and bugs.
    * Gathers feedback for web site improvement and enhancement.
      Monitors web site for consistency, cross-referencing and
      compliance with University standards for web site content and
      development.

Qualifications:

    * 5 or more years’ experience developing Web applications, including
      expertise in one or more of the following – Java, Ruby on Rails, PHP.
    * Database development and design using SQL, MySQL, Oracle, or other
      RDBMS
    * Proven skills in XHTML, CSS, JavaScript.
    * Ajax, XML experience highly desirable
    * High performing knowledge of software development best practices
    * Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; high attention
      to detail
    * Strong understanding of information design and interface design
      principles
    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    * Strong organizational skills
    * Creative, self-motivated, resourceful and ability to work
      independently as well as in a team environment

The Web Applications Developer must be passionate when it comes to 
providing outstanding, usable web experiences for end users. The Web 
Applications Developer works closely with the Senior Web Developer, 
Information Specialists and project managers.
