[Web4lib] IE7 and Firefox 2.0 Search Engine for Web2

Thanks for the replies -
I have made the Sherlock-based plug-in work. This is fine for Firefox
1.5 and earlier.
The problem I keep having with the OpenSearch method is this -
When I use Ready2Search to create the plug-in, I can actually install
the plug-in directly from the site. However, when I download the code
for the plug-in for the XML file, I keep getting errors in both FF2.0
and IE7.0. Same thing for the Google Toolbar button.
I did have a javascript that was testing the browser, but as I thought
that may be the culprit, I've switched it out for two links - one for
FF1.5 and one for FF2.0 and IE7. The link for FF1.5 causes a 'done, but
with errors' on IE7 when clicking on it (of course), but the IE7 link
gives an 'Internet Explorer could not install this search engine',
saying there's an error with the provider's information.
What I'm not understanding is why the plug-in works when launching from
Ready2Search, yet the actual code when downloaded and placed on our
website gives an error. It's the same code.
Is there something I'm not seeing?

I just created one on the Ready2Search site:
http://keijisaito.info/ready2search/e/#
Using our web2 URL:
http://catalog.library.phila.gov/web2/tramp2.exe/do_ccl_search/guest?SET
TING_KEY=English&servers=1home&index=default&query=
It seems to work well. I did it as a keyword search and installed it in
IE7. It seems to work.

(Apologies for cross-posting.)
I remember a thread somewhere about Firefox search plug-ins being used
by some libraries using the OpenSearch method.
My question is has anyone been able to construct one for the Web2 OPAC
for SirsiDynix? I'm getting a 'Firefox doesn't support this search
engine' result so far in my attempt to create one.
I've looked at WebJunction and the documents there refer to the Sherlock
setup and are not Web2 based.
What I'm trying to do is create a search URL in the search engine based
off a general URL that I've been able to use in pulling results out of
our OPAC. I realize the executable file is not your typical cgi-bin
type of search, but has anyone been able to create such a creature?
