Too much time wondering about how other people are spending their time.

I see your point, Bill, and yet in libraries we spend a -lot- of time
trying to figure out how people are spending their time, in order to do
collection development, yes? Do they want videos or DVD's? Do they
want romance novels or SF? Do they want to interact with reference
staff directly, or send their requests online? Part of -my- job is
figuring out how to psychically know what they're going to ask us about
and magically present the information proactively on our website (this
goes about as well as you can expect without superpowers).

This is all stuff I've heard debated on library forums. Are the Web 2.0
questions we're posing all that different, except for the venue and
formats? They still seem to point us toward trying to provide better,
more relevant service.

That said, if I have one more date where some guy stops in the middle of
a sentence to answer a text message from his ex-wife, kids, or drinking
buddy, I'm gonna scream! My fascination with Life 2.0 has its limits.

Cheers,
Louise
