WEB INTERACTION AND USABILITY SPECIALIST
The Goizueta Business Library at Emory University seeks a Web
Interaction and Usability Specialist who is excited about envisioning
and implementing new technology initiatives for a rapidly growing top
25 business school Library. The Library provides business information
services to the academic community with a strong commitment to both
desktop delivery of information and consultation and instruction.

Responsibilities:
Provides leadership in research and development for innovative
web-based information delivery for the Goizueta Business Library and
manages the Goizueta Business Library web presence.
Strategic responsibilities:
• Leads and develops innovative public web services and systems within
an established technical infrastructure;
• Identifies needs and establishes priorities for web and other
technology initiatives in collaboration with Goizueta Business Library
stakeholders;
• Tracks trends, investigates new technologies such as Web 2.0, and
makes recommendations to enhance the delivery of electronic
information;
• Provides oversight for the user experience of the web site; and
• Collaborates with the respective technology teams in the General
Libraries and the Goizueta Business School.
Tactical responsibilities:
• Develops web authoring standards and functional requirements for web
applications development;
• Provides technical support for the collaborative publishing needs of
Librarian subject matter experts;
• Conducts website assessment including usability studies;
• Applies web technologies to enhance Library instruction; and
• Manages a web-based faculty Working Papers database.
Qualifications: Required: Master's Degree in Human-Computer
Interaction, Information Design, Library or Information Science, or
related field and minimum of 2 years experience designing, developing
and/or managing web sites. Demonstrated knowledge of emerging web
technologies such as 2.0, standard web authoring tools, XHTML and CSS.
Knowledge of web-related best practices and issues relevant to
information architecture and/or user centered design processes.
Experience conducting usability studies. Experience documenting
procedures. Demonstrated successful project management skills.
Dedicated to a customer-centered service model. Excellent
communication skills.
Preferred: Demonstrated conceptual ability for applying technology to
information and research services. Visual design skills. Experience
with web content management systems and/or Macromedia Contribute.
Experience developing web-accessible databases in PHP/MYSQL.
Familiarity with digital library initiatives.
