Along these same lines, I think it also needs to be clarified that FTP
sends transmissions in cleartext (usernames, passwords and commands) so
it is a potential security risk. If you can, it might be better to use
SFTP - it runs "on top" of SSH, and is encrypted.

I use SecureFX, which isn't free but supports secure connections and is
easy to use.
I admit to being curious about the vendor's suggestion. How will FTP fix
an issue with online collection development?
