We have been using AOL IM for several years. It is not a security
problem. Most of the IT people on our campus use it. I now have it set
so messages sent to my IM username are forwarded to my cell phone if
they are from people in my buddy list. I am even using AOL IM on my
cell phone from time to time. It is built into most phones sold by
Cingular. I believe those in IT that call it a security problem are
being too paranoid.
