In September 1996 Roy Tennant, then Project Manager of the Digital
Library Research & Development at the University of California,
Berkeley, described an 'electronic discussion list' for 'library web
managers' in Issue 5 of Ariadne. Here is the URL:

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the appearance of Issue 1 of
Ariadne - http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue1/ and it has done an excellent
job since then of documenting digital library developments in the UK and
beyond.
