Library Systems Manager

The University of Maine System Libraries invites applications from energetic, service-oriented individuals for the position of Systems Librarian. The major focus of this position is to manage our shared electronic library system (URSUS), a
multi-faceted online resource containing over 2.5 million holdings records and Web gateways to licensed Internet resources. The system includes the full product line available from Innovative Interfaces, and is linked dynamically to a statewide
union catalog of library resources (Maine Info Net), an electronic reserves and reference system, and user rights management system. URSUS and it supporting systems are shared by the seven University campus libraries, the State Library, the Law and
Legislative Reference Library, and the Bangor Public Library. The successful candidate will have integrated library system experience, an understanding of the vital importance of communication and public service in a multitype library environment,
and demonstrated experience realizing the full potential of the software to serve library staff and patrons. 

Required Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited program and relevant experience in library environment; experience with and knowledge of integrated library management systems, networking, hardware and software as they relate to the delivery of
library services; familiarity with emerging trends and standards in information technology; excellent interpersonal communication skills; excellent written and oral skills communications skills. Preferred: experience with Innovative Interfaces
integrated library system software; supervisory experience; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications; familiarity with NT network environment, University and statewide networks.
