yes to all of the above - settings checked by 3 different sets of eyes now.

I'd be willing, but timing is a major issue - I can't unplug the old
server during library open hours, because our internet junkie patrons
would go bonkers. So my only time to actually try things out on it is
from 0800-0930 every morning, Mountain time. I'm also not at all sure
that the external IP address really is accessible - I haven't been able
to get to the computer by either IP or by name, thru the external
hook-up, except for that one time with my own customized error message.
If you'd be willing to work with timing, I can probably get my sysadmin
to open up the firewall.
