This new, free service cross-searches 20 databases and aims to make it
easier to find articles, books, technical reports and data, eprints, the
latest research, industry news, job announcements and quality websites,
etc, in engineering, mathematics and computing. More databases will be
added in due course. Its aimed at academics/researchers/students and
helps them scan what material is available. Links to native interfaces
are available for more in-depth searching. In many (but not all) cases,
the full text of materials found is freely available. Essentially its a
deep mining, subject-based cross-search.
EEVL Xtra has been developed on a shoestring by Heriot Watt University
with support from Emerald, CSA, IHS, Jobs.ac.uk, Morgan & Claypool,
Inderscience and ProTalk. It uses software developed by the Subject
Portal Project. Each visit is treated as a 'session', but without
authentication, which means that some links may sometimes work in a
slightly unusual way. Searching is, hopefully, pretty simple.
